So often as I stand in the pew singing off-key I find myself just repeat familiar words to the tunes. But then there are the other times that I hear the words in a new way. I feel the beat of the music only to realize that it it my heart not just the drums. That is how it was the first time the first time we sang Holy Spirit. It was not a new song to me. I had heard Francesca Battistelli’s version played on the radio for a few weeks. However, there is just something different about breathing the chorus with your own lungs.
Holy Spirit You are welcome here,
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere.
Your glory God is what our hearts long for,
To be overcome by Your presence, Lord.
The presence Lord
When you realize what you are singing and Who you are singing to you begin to re-exam your heart behind them, In other words, as I sang that day I began to feel convicted. Do I really welcome the Holy Spirit into my life? Into all areas of my life or do I just open parts of my life to Him?
I want this to become my daily prayer. To become so overcome by His presence that others see Christ and not me. I have learned that if I will continually welcome Him in then He will be right there.
How do you welcome the Holy Spirit into your daily life ?
